for 1868, 27 1/4in. shortened nitro reproved bold damascus barrels (in 2009), the rib engraved 'BOSS & CO. 73 ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, barrel and action flats marked with initials 'J.P.', Jones patent rotary-underlever, carved percussion fences, non-rebounding back-action locks with dolphin hammers, best fine acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish overall and with blacked hammers, 14in. highly-figured stock (crack at hand) including engraved steel buttplate, fore-end with crosspin release, chequering refreshed, weight 6lb. 15oz., in a canvas case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this shotgun was ordered January 1868 by a Mr. Farquhar.
